Our Story…
The story of Westwood Monuments began over 100 years ago, when my grandfather, Salvatore Frangiosa, arrived at Ellis Island in 1920 with little more than a brown paper bag of belongings and a dream. He made his way to Boston, where he took on various labor jobs at construction sites, slowly building a new life. Among the many trades he learned, stone masonry stood out as his true passion – But it was when he began working with granite, with its distinctive veins reminiscent of the marble back in Italy, that his love for the craft deepened.
Before long, he could skillfully shape even a square block of granite into a perfect circle, an essential skill in the creation of monuments and headstones. Recognizing the beauty and importance of his work, my grandfather founded Westwood Monuments in 1939. Today, as a third-generation stone mason, I continue the legacy he began. I share not only his name but also his dedication to transforming granite into timeless pieces of art. Every memorial we design is crafted in-house, ensuring the utmost quality and a lasting tribute that will honor your loved one for generations.
